One of my favorite brands at Baselworld is German Glashütte Original. I was needless say excited to see their novelties and here is my two favorites from their selection of news.
Glashütte Original Senator Cosmopolite The perfect companion for traveling the world, or just enjoying German watch making at it’s finest. Inside is the new Calibre 89-02 with a 72 hour power reserve. The new movement was developed in-house by the Saxon manufactory and meets the demand of world travellers. The dial displays two time zones, the primary one being the local time of the destination and the secondary for your local home time. Choose between 37 world times, the three letters at 8 o’clock shows the IATA code (airport or city). Another complication I really like is the power reserve in the home time dial, it’s elegant and easy to read even at distance. The case measures 44 mm and I tried the white gold version, it also available in 18k red gold.
Glashütte Original Senator Observer The Senator Observer is like the Senator Cosmopolite about exploring and more particular about sailing. Keep in mind that professional sailing is hard and in the middle of the night it’s even harder to read the instruments. Glashütte designed the Senator with that in mind so it’s just as easy to read the watch at day as in the middle of the night. The Calibre 100-14 boosts a 55 hour power reserve and the beautiful movement is visible through the sapphire case back. A beautiful detail is the skeletonized rotor which is made out of 21-carat gold.
