Buyer’s Guide: Kaplans Watches Auction February 7

By  |  0 Comments

The Buyer’s Guide is where we show you all of the best and most interesting watches you can buy at the moment.

Kaplans in Stockholm is internationally a rather small auction house, their range of watches is however rather big. You might remember the preview I wrote for their Important Watches auction in november, click here in case you missed it. My pick below is from the upcoming watch auction saturday february 7.

Rolex Datejust “Turn-O-Graph” Ref nr. 116264

There’s something special about the TOG, perhaps it’s the odd combination of a dress watch from Rolex that actually looks rather funky. Or maybe is the roulette date which on even dates is in black colored lettering and on odd dates in a red colored lettering. For which ever reason I’m sure the TOG is a future collectors item, being a shelf warmer when it was in production. This particular watch comes with box and
papers and is in an amazing condition.

Jaeger-Le Coultre Reverso Duo Ref nr. 271 84 10

The Reverso is one of the few smaller sized dress watches that actually works just as good with a suit as with t-shirt, jeans and sneakers. It’s a Duo with the Cal 854 inside and it can show two time zones. The great thing with Reversos is the endless possibilites, flip the watch and change strap to completely change the look of the watch. This watch is from 2011 and comes with box and papers.

Panerai Luminor Marina Ref nr. PAM 00111

Panerai are tool watches originally made for the Italian navy. This particular watch is great value because of it’s reasonable estimated price being 26,000 SEK. 44 mm wide and wears rather big. The sandwich dial is iconic for Panerai watches. Inside is the Movement no. 546251 which you can see on the back trough the crystal backcase. With box and papers from 2011.

Breitling Chrono-Matic Ref nr. A1436002

There’s just something about the way Breitling dials are cluttered. It gives you a sense of where a Breitling really should be – on the arm of a pilot ready for take off in a cockpit. The Chrono-Matic wears rather big, like a Breitling should do, at 49 mm wide. Inside is the calibre 14. The chronograph hand in signal red is really the cherry on the top, visible in every kind light which is just what a pilot needs. Comes with box and papers from 2013.

Swedish ice hockey legend Henrik Lundqvist is not just a Olympic games winning goalie, he’s also well dressed and ambassador for Tag Heuer. Omega Speedmaster ’57 Co-Axial

There’s a thin line between 1957 and today. And as it turns out it goes just over the iconic Omega Speedmaster. The new Omega Speedmaster ’57 (ref 331.10.42.51.01.002) is a subtle nod to the first ever Speedmaster, with iconic details like the straight lugs and broad arrows. Released at BaselWorld this year and perhaps my very […]
