Store visit: Fredmans Ur

Fredmans Ur at Nybrogatan is warm and welcoming with friendly and knowledgeable staff. The store opened six years ago and retails quite a few brands, perhaps not the biggest but in our opinion some of the most exciting ones.

Fredmans Ur is exclusive retailer in Sweden for Bell & Ross so let’s get things started with the amazing BR03-92!

Bell & Ross – BR03-92
You might recognize Bell & Ross iconic design, it’s made after genuine military specifications and adapted to professional use. The BR03-29 has 21 jewels, 28,800 vibrations an hour and a power reserve of 40 hours. Technical specifications aside it’s a cool and a bit odd watch that looks and feels genuinely like something made for and used by the military. Wears rather big at 46 mm wide and 10 mm thick, perfect summer watch since it comes on a great rubber strap and is waterproof 100m.

Girard-Perregaux – 1966 Full Calendar
Founded in 1791 by Jean-Francois Bautte makes Girard-Perregaux one of the oldest manufacturers still in business. The 1966 Full Calendar is a homage to pay tribute to the many inovations by GP in the sixties. 27 jewels, 28,800 vibrations/hour and 41 hour power reserve makes this dress watch not only look great but also quite technically exciting. The watch measures 40 mm wide and 10.7 thick so perfect size for a dress watch. Features a range of useful complications like full calendar, display of the date, display of the week, the month and phases of the moon.

Vulcain – 50s Presidents Cricket Watch Heritage Steel
You might not see it but the Cricket is the loudest watch you’ll ever come across. The alarm function introduced in 1947 was an innovation that would become legendary. This heritage edition is just as loud and comes with an amazing sunburst dial and the legendary hand-wound Cricket V-10 calibre. Power reserve 42 hours, 18,000 vibrations and alarm signal lasts cirka 20 seconds. The movement has 25 jewels and is made up out of 165 components, wears small at 39 mm wide.

Longines – 180th Anniversary Telemeter Chronograph
I’m usually not a fan of heritage editions but my god, this is one great looking chronograph! The 180th Anniversary Telemeter Chronograph is however not just any chronograph. The telemeter scales, introduced 1852, measure the distance sound travels. Just push the button when you see the flash and stop when you hear the thunder and voila, you have the distance to the lightning bolt! The watch is inspired by a chronograph from 1933, this heritage edition measures 41 mm and houses the caliber L688 which is a self-winding mechanical movement.

Maurice Lacroix – Masterpiece Roue Carrée Seconde
It took watchmaker Michel Vermot years of development to create the square formed gear wheel. It’s simply brilliant and it’s actually made possible by advance mathematical calculations. The Roue Carrée Seconde is part of Maruice Lacroix Masterpiece series. The dial is with rhodium finish and the power reserve indicator gives the dial touch to complete the harmonic symmetry.

It’s time to leave Fredmans Ur for this time. The great thing is that you can buy all of Fredmans Ur’s watches online, just click here to browse the full selection.
